Smashwords Top 20 Books Perform Equally as well on Amazon: It’s not a B&N Phenomenon

In a recent blog post, Smashwords CEO, Mark Coker, posted their top 20 books at B&N (total dollars). This data, he reports, was compiled over a two day period (December 25-26). Coker, in recent days, has taken a strong stance against the recent marketing maneuvers of Amazon.com. Coker has also commented on the competitive impact that may result from Amazon’s recent “predatory” strategic moves. His venomous assault on Amazon continues.

Interestingly, it’s hard to conclude that the success of this top 20 list is something akin to a B&N phenomenon. A review of the Amazon sales data reveals and suggests that these 20 books are performing equally as well at Amazon.com. Smashwords is a supplier to the competitors of Amazon and Coker readily admits that he’s a stakeholder in ebook commerce.

In our opinion, Amazon’s KDP Select is worth another glance independent of the dogma of Smashwords CEO, Mark Coker.
