How Pathetic Can Preditors & Editors David L. Kuzminski Be?

In AuthorsCredibilityDavid L. KuzminskiInvestigationsLaw SuitsPreditors & EditorsPropagandaPublishers,Reputation on March 29, 2011 at 1:10 am

“Authors in general don’t have a lot of money, and lawsuits are expensive.”

– James D. MacDonald

“Help Defend P&E – Unfortunately, there are those who do not like P&E or its editor because we give out information that they would prefer remain hidden from writers. Usually, they slink away, but not this time. P&E is being sued and we are asking for donations to mount a legal defense in court. Please click on the link below and give if you can to help protect P&E so it can continue to defend writers as it has for over a decade.”

– David L. KuzminskiPreditors & Editors

The quote above is the headline to the Preditors & Editors website. Seriously, how pathetic can David L. Kuzminski be? Asking authors to bail his tuches (ass) out with donations to fund his legal defense? We don’t need to tell you that authors are generally not the highest paid individuals. For David L. Kuzminski to ask for financial assistance from them is despicable. As you may know, a self-published author must sell approximately 5000 books before he/she breaks even. Considering David L. Kuzminski’s own Amazon Sales Rankings, it’s no wonder that he would solicit handouts for a legal problem that he alone created.

David L. Kuzminski, if you’re going to “give out information” at least back it up with primary source material. It’s not that some people “do not like P&E,” it is, however, the total lack of disregard of proving claims with demonstrative evidence that people don’t agree with. Unfortunately, in your case, it appears to have caught up with you. It’s your problem and it’s time for you, and only you, to face it. Again, to request struggling authors to financially support your legal defense is despicable. It reeks of the very same accusations you’ve made against various publishing companies. literary agents and individuals. It’s time to put your big boy pants on and face your own reality. If your experience contributes anything to the publishing world, perhaps it will be what not to do and solidify the need for using primary source material. If the low donations to the “Atlanta Nights” film project (and the dreadful Amazon Sales Rankings of the companion book) are any indication of author support, we would assume that few are supporting your plea. Please, stop begging from authors and remove this pathetic request for donations. Remember what “Uncle Jim” says, “money flows to the author.” However, it should not flow to the legal defense fund of another author.

Normally, only registered non-profit ((501 (c) (3)) organizations can solicit donations from the public. To do so otherwise can give rise to investigative curiosity from the Internal Revenue Servicestate agencies and the Attorney General’s office of any given state. We have not found any Articles of Incorporation, DBA’s, Assumed Names or IRS documentation which categorizes Preditors & Editors or David L. Kuzminski as a “public charity.” In addition, the Preditors & Editors website is registered under David L. Kuzminski and is not affiliated with any corporation, DBA or other business entity.

[Note: David L. Kuzminski died of an apparent heart attack on August 13, 2013; 24 days prior to the death of Writer Beware’s Ann “A.C.” Crispin.]

“An Author site/blog using Google ads to generate revenue from authors probably isn’t anyone you want to read.”

– The Write Agenda

“I understand all the reasons for having “private” SFWA forums, but having been a member on and off (currently on) for well over a decade, I’ve gradually come to the conclusion that the downside of it far outweighs the positives. SFWA has become a cult, dedicated first and foremost to the preservation of the cult. It has increasingly little to do with creativity, commerce, or the actual business of science fiction.”

UPDATED: 01/04/2012: Victoria Strauss Drops F-Bomb . . . Again: The F****** Lack of Class Continues

In Accountability, Amazon Rankings, Amazon Sales Rankings, American Book Publishing, Author, Author Watch, Authors, Book Sellers, Book Signings, books, Bookstores, Credibility, e-books, Interviews, Investigations, Law Suits, lawsuits, libelous, Librarians, Library, Professionalism, Propaganda, Publishers, Publishing, Reputation, Reputation Management, Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association, Self-Publishing, SFWA, T.W.A.N.G., The Write Agenda, Vanity Press, Victoria Strauss, Watchdog, Writer Beware on September 20, 2011 at 1:59 pm

“You can say ‘fuck’ on my FB page. I say it all the time in real life.”

Victoria Strauss (Facebook Page, September 19, 2011)

It’s one thing if a publishing “weiner dog” swears in private.  But there is a certain minimum dignity…decorum…class that we expect from our “weiner dogs” when they speak in public. Especially . . .  on Facebook. Of course, this isn’t the first time Victoria Stauss has demonstrated her lack of class (Click here).

Just imagine if Victoria Strauss approached the business of Writer Beware and her PR as an author during moments when her words actually moved the hearts and minds of people who cared:

American Book Publishing has been the focus of at least one f****** police investigation.”

“I’m the author of eight f****** published fantasy novels for adults and f****** young adults, including the f***** Stone duology (The Arm of the Stone and The Garden of the Stone), the Way of Arata duology (The Burning Land and The Awakened City), and a forthcoming f****** historical fantasy for f****** teens, Passion Blue.”

“I’m an active f****** member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), and co-founder of f****** Writer Beware, a f****** publishing industry watchdog group that tracks and warns about literary schemes, scams, and pitfalls. I f****** maintain the popular Writer Beware website, Facebook page, and blog. For this work, I f****** was honored with the SFWA Service Award in 2009.”

“I’ve f****** written hundreds of f****** book reviews for magazines and ezines, including SF Site, and my articles on writing have appeared in f****** Writer’s Digest and elsewhere. In f****** 2006, I served as a f****** judge for the f******World Fantasy Awards.”

It’s sort of amusing to watch, in the sense that it’s not every day that you see a crowd of “flying monkeys” cheer on a gal who has real credibility issues, horrid Amazon Sales Rankings while simultaneously cursing like a sailor. Parents, book buyers, and librarians do take note. This is the author of the f****** fantasy for teens, Passion Blue  . . . we can’t wait for the f****** book signing events.

Yes, she does say f*** in “real life.” Just ask her neighbors that had to endure a dispute with Victoria Strauss regarding “walnuts” and her “fence.” Victoria Strauss readily admitted that  she was “forgetting to be ladylike in [her] extreme annoyance.Nevertheless, she deliberately f-bombed her neighbor accordingly: “What’s the big fucking deal here? All I’m asking is that you not pile your shit against my fence. Why is that so much to ask?”
