The Lake Geneva News recently posted their rationale for writing a story about James Strauss. The story was brought to their attention by Author, Lee Goldberg. The posting is available here.
This story, which Lee Goldberg started as an innocent little scam busting venture, is far from being over. The Lake Geneva area has a long history of political conflict. There is every reason to continue to question the relationship between Lee Goldberg, John Halverson, The Lake Geneva News and the connections to puppet masters behind the scenes. Maybe, if the opportunity presents itself, we can use Lee Goldberg’s strategy . . . name the “players” at another time. Just like Lee Goldberg . . . everything is in the timing.
Our original inquiry regarding Lee Goldberg was not raised to support James Strauss. It was raised to question Lee Goldberg’s motives as to why he was bringing information, posted over a year ago, back into the picture and naming names now. In response, Lee Goldberg used the weinerdog strategies: “confuse the reader, get off topic, attack commentators, shield, deflect and exit without answering questions . . . while leaving behind more questions in the mind of the reader.” Lee Goldberg and his followers made a mockery of our reasonable inquiry. In addition, Lee Goldberg enlisted the help of Author, Libby Hellmann, prior to getting their facts correct, thereby raising more questions about his motives and credibility. Many, including John Halverson, General Manager and Editor, have claimed that our posts (linking Lee Goldberg to meals and as a passenger in James Strauss’ car) are irrelevant. Normally, that would be true. However, Lee Goldberg denied accepting a ride from James Strauss and denied accepting a paid meal from James Strauss. The Write Agenda has received information that would call into question Lee Goldberg’s truthfulness. Therefore, it is Lee Goldberg that “exposed” himself and became a credibility issue and that is why it is relevant.
We responded to the posting only to be taunted by Ben Reeder (We’re not going to dignify Ben by calling him an author. He’s not. But, he thinks he is.) Ben, as usual, likes to jump on high profile stories for self-promotional activities. Normally, we ignore him . . . as do the book buying community. Ben, apparently since birth, regularly seeks out acceptance. He’s a strong advocate (devotee’) of Victoria Stauss and habitually coddles the breast of Writer Beware and its flying monkeys as if they were some surrogate mothers. He’s the panty waste that posts things and looks to Victoria Strauss for approval. Nevertheless, we chose to indulge Mr. Reeder on this occasion only because relates to some of strategies of Lee Goldberg, those in the SFWA and the science fiction community in general. Enjoy.

Ben S Reeder: And once again Bob Fletcher’s sock puppet speaks. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Miriam Silverstein…er, Robert Fletcher, I mean The Write Agenda. Ms. Silverstein’s account is a sock puppet for The Write Agenda, a smear campaign aimed at one time at any literary watchdog group out there who educated writers about the tactics of vanity presses whose sole purpose was to bilk new authors out of their money without providing a penny of actual service. Now that they’ve been completely ineffective in shutting down Absolute Write and Writer Beware, it appears they’ve turned their attention to a successful writer who outed another of their kind. Note how Ms “Silverstein’s” links ALWAYS go back to the same wordpress site, that of (you guessed it) The Write Agenda. Because if they attack a very public person, they MUST be legit, right? LOL

And Bob, I know you changed “Miriam’s” profile pic a couple of days ago after it was publicly outed as a stock photo pic, but covering “her” face with badly photoshopped glasses and a scarf is just plain lazy. You might as well put a paper bag over her head and drop the charade that “she” is anything other than you using your 76th (or is it your 77th? I keep forgetting about Nick Caruso) alias. Because now “she” appears to be trying just as hard to hide her face as TWA does, which is probably not the conclusion you want people to draw. She’s supposed to at least LOOK more legit than TWA.
Miriam Silverstein: Ben, this is neither the place nor the forum for your lame self-promotion activities. This spot belongs to Mr. Goldberg; you cannot possibly think that piggybacking in Goldberg’s world is going to help sell your cold black suet-pudding. We can represent your books as cold suet-roll of fabulously reptilian length. Cut it at any point, it is the same thing; the same heavy, sticky, opaque mass all through and all along. No one buys them. No one wants them. Just like you . . . no one wanted you since birth; pity the people that found you in the pineapple patch.
Your bio also mentions your military service. Was that an honorable discharge? Assuming that you really were in the military and honorably discharged, your post-military service has really been so illustrious: you’ve worked in a video arcade, on a farm, selling ads, a clerk in a convenience store, scanning medical records . . . now you want to be taken serious as an author? Oh yes, let’s not forget that you “trained” to be a massage therapist and have attained a second level in reiki. Trained . . . so, you’re not certified? Not licensed? Now, you’re affiliated with a Traditional Witchcraft publisher? Boo! Seriously? We’re not really sure we would want you rubbing our backs, body parts or your rosy palms for hands-on healing. [NOTE: The State of Missouri, where Ben lives, requires all Massage Therapists to be licensed. A cursory search of the Missouri licensing database does not indicate that Ben has a license to practice massage therapy. “Trained”?]
Ben Reeder is the proverbial man with the crossed arms; distant and very insecure. Ben, your pagan tokhis can pick a fight with us any day (or with Robert Fletcher . . . FYI Fletcher IS NOT associated with The Write Agenda). If you choose to throw your shmutz around . . . do it in the right playground. Now, get on your broom and fly home to your trailer park princess Randi!

As a supposed “Christian” you openly mock the choice of a good woman by implying adoption is a rejection, once again showing your lack of class. You mocked my service to my country, thus mocking every one of my military brothers and sisters. And trying to insult the woman I love? Wow, grasping at straws much, Bob? I guess you didn’t dig deep enough into my past, or maybe you DID and decided, like you usually do, to only include what served your purposes, leaving out my current project. But just like you do when you post as TWA, you try to deflect the attention away from yourself with an attempt to smear the person shining the light on your shady alter-ego, thus proving that you’re the same person. Just goes to show everyone I’m right, Bob. Way to go!

But for those of you watching at home, for her next act, “Miriam” here is going to throw more bombast and noisy accusations at me, try to smear either me or Lee Goldberg while asserting that she is still not Bob Fletcher. Because Bob isn’t nearly as smart as he thinks he is. And “she’ll” attempt to hammer the “I’m Jewish, not Christian” thing into the ground, forgetting that TWA has constantly attacked people for their “UnChristian” behaviors while at the same time breaking that whole commandment about bearing false witness.

Miriam Silverstein: There you have if folks . . . the typical response from a “weinerdog.” This kind of response is very emblematic in the science fiction writing community. Confuse the reader, get off topic, attack commentators, shield, deflect and exit without answering questions . . . while leaving behind more questions in the mind of the reader. These are the type of people that Lee Goldberg is associated with.
For example: 1) we questioned Ben’s (and only Ben’s) military service. Did he receive an honorable discharge? 2) Ben indicates that he “trained” to be a massage therapist. What exactly does that mean? Does “trained” mean that that he’s certified and licensed? Reasonable questions. We encouraged Ben to pick another venue (not this forum) to carry on this exchange. Since he chose to reply here (again) his content does raise some interesting parallels and how it relates to how we all came here in the first place . . . Lee Goldberg.
How does Ben reply? First, he calls me “Bob” (which is a reference to Robert Fletcher) even though we (The Write Agenda) have repeatedly stated that Mr. Fletcher is not affiliated with The Write Agenda. Lee Goldberg used the same strategy. It doesn’t matter to Ben. He still needs/wants to believe that there is some association. Second, he states that I’ve professed somewhere to be a “Christian.” Third, he states that I’ve mocked the men and women that serve in our armed services.
You see the strategy? “Confuse the reader, get off topic, attack commentators, shield, deflect and exit without answering questions . . . while leaving behind more questions in the mind of the reader.” Ben, completely avoids providing proof of his military service, providing proof of an honorable discharge and providing proof of his certification and licensing documentation regarding his “training” as a massage therapist.
In my reply, Ben was again encouraged to provide the information and stay on topic. In addition, I advised Ben that I am not a “Christian” and requested that he also produce a link or information proves that I’m somehow connected to Christianity (see how they make stuff up?). Ben, was also provided with Mr. Fletcher’s Twitter information and picture to personally contact. We did challenge the infamous Ann “A.C.” Crispin (deceased) on her erroneous use of the word “mitzvah.”
Now, here’s where it starts to get rather pathetic. Ben responds AGAIN claiming that 1) I am “Bob,” 2) James Strauss was “exposed, not mocked,” 3) raised our support of Theodore Beale during his SFWA President campaign, and then 4) raises the question of doubt in his own mind . . . that is, if I’m not “Bob” surely I’m “a sock puppet for ‘Bob’ Fletcher.” Ben, also failed to provide proof of my “Christianity.” Again, “Confuse the reader, get off topic, attack commentators, shield, deflect and exit without answering questions . . . while leaving behind more questions in the mind of the reader.” Ben, completely avoids providing proof of his military service, providing proof of an honorable discharge and providing proof of his certification and licensing documentation regarding his “training” as a massage therapist. Painted into a corner he decides “this thread has served its purpose . . . Thank you for playing. I’ve spent as much time as I choose to on this” . . . and goes home. Playing? As is true with many in this science fiction community, Ben demonstrates the tactics and strategies of these types of bullies. They defend each other to the death even when facts and evidence demonstrate otherwise.
